Thank you kindly, Kathy .......1DX still has some little irritating features for me, but overall it does work well, particularly the AF system and high ISO handling, probably very much like your 5DMkIII.
Here is one simple duckshot with fallish coloured background. In this case the perspective is very "level" with the duck because the camera/lens was lowered almost to the water level. That low perspective is a dominant strategy by "birders" to achieve the coveted N&W forum "look".
7D + 85L @ f/1.2........."blind" framing as well as auto AF pt.selection used.
60D (articulated display) would help with shots of this type. ...Show more →
Drat!!!!!! I missed getting to see it Peter. Just saw your post, then the post below raving about it. Beautiful duck shots above though.
Beautiful countryside, Harry, and I pass that scene hereabouts (on a smaller landscape) in the fall, too; but when I spotted a neighbor baling & hauling hay "The Old Way", I had to smile and make a photo...I spent so many afternoons throwing bales up on the wagon, feeling underpaid and overworked...these teenagers looked like they were having a good time, too .

Oh man that's a lot of bales in Harry's photo. Only helped once when I was a young lad but it was a lot of work to me. I don't think true farmers see it as work.
