Really impressive IF shots, Brian! How do you convince the hovers that they should pass by your MP-E at 1,5" distance from the front element? Also, do you put the flash in manual for these?
Evyind - it's really the other way round. I never actually go out with the intention of getting in flight shots. I take them if the situation is right - and in this case the hoverfly was interested in a nearby flower and was not bothered at all about the lens and so allowed me to track it's movements. I used ttl flash- never found hoverflies to be bothered by flash.
