Gerry posted a challenge here and said (via email) that I could post at other forums this watercolor result too. Thought I would share with you all since I liked the result anyway.
Various blends within G'MIC (a GIMP do all filter) including segmentation preset for a lot of the simplification step. Also used Paint Engine (a PS filter which also works in GIMP) for part of process. Added paper texture at the end. Thanks for the comments Leehman.
