p.4 #1 · 40mm STM - would you buy?

If you have 35/1.4 and 50/1.2 on a 5DII, would you consider getting 40mm STM?
I'm trying to justify buying it, at $299 seems a very good bargain. however, it could very well be a very expensive paper weight, if you ended up using 35 and 50 more.
Thanks for all opinion.

I have all three! (35L, 50L and 40mm STM)

I take the 40mm for travel and landscape. It has great image quality so you give up nothing in that regard. (ir costs $149 btw!)

40 is great. I especially use it at night on the 5dmk3.

The 40 is undeniably cute, and does take pretty good photos. But I don't particularly need a cute lens, and the vignetting and edges are a concern until about f/5.6 on mine.

I usually prefer the old 35/2, and definitely like the imaging better of the 50/1.2L. And the 45 TS-E is equal or superior in all but size. It is fun to have to fill that little focal length step in the collection: 35, 40, 45, 50.

So, mine remains somewhat an orphan, a novelty, getting little use. But it's such a great bargain, it doesn't hurt me to keep it.

Maybe it would see more use if it was a 30/2.8 pancake?

Has anybody compared it to the Voigtlander 40mm?
