Just sold my D700 today with 15.5k clicks for $1750, it was posted on Craigslist for 2 days. Best part was the person that bought it worked in a building less then a 2 minute walk away!
They'll go for $1200 or less come October when the new body is announced. The prices are still at the moment very inflated considering everybody knows a D600 is coming.

That would be amazing, but I don't think so. The D300s is still selling at/ above D7000 prices. There will still be a premium for pro vs. prosumer. Also, it sounds like you're one of the folks who believes $1699. I'm betting $1999.
Most pro's won't care its pro build or prosumer build. Probably a very good reason why many actually bought D7000s as opposed to the D300 afterall. $1200 is being conservative. If you expect it to sell for anything more you'd be day dreaming as the D600 will match most of the specs and even beat it in some. It'll be the Nikon version of the Canon 5D. A great full frame body at a darn good price.
I bought mine on the B/S forum in February or March of this year for around $1600 with 50k clicks. I just replaced the three main rubber grips with brand spankin' new ones from Nikon and I'm in love with this camera all over again! That being said, I think I'd like a D3 a little better. The larger grip and higher fps are worth the ~$300 premium to me. If only I had the cash...
I bought mine used less than 5000 clicks, with grip extra battery and 4 CF memory cards, THom Hohgan Book /DVD for $1675 - thing was like brand new. with boxes etc..
