Agree with others that this is really good. I bet you're liking OCF now!!! I do like the more dramatic look of the last image, and that's not a look you can get with all natural light!

This set is wonderful! Every shot is well composed and lit and her expressions are great. The only thing I could suggest is removing the creepy detached fingers from her left hand on number four. Excellent work.

Thank you all SO much - I really have taken your comments on previous sessions to heart and tried to work on variety, creativity, and stepping outside my comfort zone. I am really happy with this session.

It's a win-win. This is a lovely set and you've shown you can use OCF effectively. I think you did a great job of balancing flash and ambient.
I hope your Senior Ambassador program works well! If it does prepared to be swamped. OCF will help because you may be having to shoot at less than optimum times.
Here's another suggestion. Our local high school had a mentoring program for students who wanted to pursue a career field. They have a class, but they mostly work with someone in their area of interest, whether it's a vetinarian or a photographer. I had some wonderful students work with me. They make great assistants and you aren't allowed to pay them under the agreement with the school. I did have one who I would hire as my assistant for weddings. She ended up second shooting for me. You might want to see if there's a similar program in your area.

Great to see you branching out of your comfort zone Lisa and trying OCF!! As for your comment about the light stand, just buy a taller light stand and you will be fine.
The flyaways are a lil much in 5 & 6 for me.
10, 12, 14,17 + 18 stand out for me as my favorites of the set.

Thanks so much guys! I LOVE the idea of using one of the girls from the H.S. as an assistant. Normally my 13 year old daughter helps me out, but she was gone for this shoot. I've actually shot a few girls who are interested in photography so that is a great idea! And yes, I definitely need a taller lightstand. I'd love a link to one if you all have one! What do people normally do to keep the umbrella from taking off into the wind if you don't have an assistant? Sandbags, or...? I can see that I had definitely gotten into a creative rut and was getting lazy/comfortable doing the same old same old on every session so this session was a good one for me to step outside my usual box.

Lisa if you can get an assistant, you certainly can't get any better than that. : )
For me when solo, I use a small softbox (24x24 I believe) instead of an umbrella. For 1, it tends to be a little less of a sail than an umbrella. Also I find the softbox gives me more control over shaping the light as the umbrella just goes everywhere.
And then yes, I add sandbags if needed.
Also, another trick, if you don't lock the head down in between shooting and rather let it rotate in the wind that can help.

These are absolutely wonderful Lisa. I would agree on the eye shadow comment on 4 and add 7 to that. 15 is the only shot I would consider skipping due to the pose, looks a bit odd and uncomfortable to me. Simply a gorgeous young lady, you need to do more with her as I think you are already planning.

Excellent work as always and gorgeous youg lady - #1, #15 and #17 really stand out for me! Love your moody black and white conversion in #1 and the shadow in #15.
Thanks for sharing oh and my 17 year old son was in my office when I was looking at this post and he would like a date with her!

Thanks so much guys - I REALLY appreciate the comments and the feedback. I touched up the shadows in #4 and reposted that one.
Love the idea of using a softbox vs the umbrella. Being in the desert, we deal with wind a LOT and I think that would be helpful. I definitely want to play with it some more. I was mostly experimenting with this shoot so I'm happy I got a few that are usable.
I totally forgot to answer the question about my senior rep program. I chose 5 girls in total...2 from one local high school and 3 from the bigger high school. They are getting their session and pro hair/makeup for free (normally $200). I'll be making up rep cards for them (sort of like a business card, but with their images, my info, and a small discount or deal for the person who is handed the rep card) and for each senior that books and pays for a session with me, the rep who referred them gets a $100 credit toward their own portrait package. So basically, they are my inside link to the high schools and will be marketing for me both there and on Facebook. This is my first year trying a program like this, but I'd really love to focus more on seniors so I figured I'd do a trial run this year with the local high schools, and if it's successful, I'll consider expanding it to the Vegas area next year.

Excellent job again Lisa and you did a great job utilizing OCF. If wind is an issue you might want to consider using a beauty dish instead of an umbrella or softbox.
