Might do more with eyes than screen, tho thats important too.

Otherwise any SW correction has a price, as always in photography its about compromise.

Makes me wonder what screen your using to pick this out so clearly in the original post?!

I'm using a 27" iMac and it passed me by. I can see it very clearly now in this closer view.

Just a Dell U2410, 24" 1920x1200 screen. I think your 27" imac has a higher pixel pitch, which makes it a bit harder to see. My screen is high-gamut though, so the colors are quite saturated.

@atlantel: Great shots and that's a nice piece of architecture.

Found a way, iPad with pinch-up to super size CA becomes clear. In final web size size I cannot spot it at all. Dont know if I should be happy about that or frustrated

atlantel, agree with Aham, very nice shots.

Regardless, this is a very nice piece of equipment which performs not only very good but can on occasion deliver the versatility a set of primes cannot.

Mine came to me as new for less than 250, here she is in full erected glory @28mm:

Nice shots atlantel, you should post more.
I might get one to compare with my R 35-70/3.5

You'll like it! I had one for a while on my 1Ds II. It's big and rather heavy, but was great optically. A little soft at the widest part, but not bad. Very sharp from 35-85mm, and has a great look to the images. It's actually the only standard zoom I ever enjoyed using.

Oh, good. I love the resolution that the 35-70 provides, but find the range a little limiting for travel. This will be coming on our upcoming trip to Thailand.

I think resolution is quite on par with 35-70mm. At least based on MTF graphs from Zeiss. Its quite insane zoom lens. Must be probably one of sharpest zooms ever made, especially considering its 28-85mm..

Hopefully. I had been considering a converted Contax N 24-85, but I already have the 24-105L for aviation type stuff where the IS is indispensable so I couldn't envision spending that kind of money on a second standard zoom. Now if this lens does as well as I hope, the question will be what to do with the 35-70?

Most likely sell? It can reduce "loss" caused by buying 28-85.

There's a good chance. When I got it I didn't have many Zeiss primes, so it was great for landscapes. Now with the new zoom and all the primes I have it will certainly be redundant... But I still will have a hard time letting it go. That being said I got the 28-85 for a pretty good price, so selling the 35-70 would pretty much cover it.

You are that guy which bought that 28-85mm for I think 400 USD from eBay? Shipped from Hong Kong?

From Japan. They had one for $425 I was pondering, but it went within a couple of hours of listing, so when the second came up for a bit more, I jumped on it. The rest are listed for $600+, and the good used gear outlets didn't have any.

Heh, thanks. Tho I think I will aim at some decent prime lens first, not sure which one tho. I shoot a lot at 50mm so probably Cron or C/Y 1.7 .. but dunno. Too many options and not enough money.

Congrats to the lens helimat. Just be prepared for a biggie compared to the 35-70. But that is part of the charm. I got myself a fine replica metal hood for front protection, it absolutely tops the imposing look.. :-)

Thanks Wilhelm. I absolutly love the 35-70, but found the range limiting when walking around on our trip down to Cuba last winter. Hopefully the increase in size will be worth it.

I was wondering if the hood and cap you have in your photo were original. I looked, and the OEM ones are going for ridiculous prices, so I too opted for a knock-off. Quite possibly the same source?
