totally depends on your shooting style. i am a landscape shooter and could not be happy without something wide. and i love to shoot tight portaits. for 600 you could squeeze in tokina's 12-24 and canon's 85 1.8 and have a couple very high quality additions to your kit.

I pretty much solely used a Tamron 90mm Macro in high school and college, love that lens and FL. But on a crop it'd be more like a 135 and I wouldn't like that as much.... so then maybe that 50mm Sigma samwise mentioned.

I appreciate samwise's certainty, but I cannot concur, since despite years of time to fix the issue,
many users still report autofocus issues with this lens.
