My shipping charge was $250 and used the Canadian Xpresspost and USPS (No broker fees). The lens arrived in 3 business days.

I'm thinking of ordering from them too - that is a killer price! Did Camera Canada double box it? Or just ship in the Canon original box? Any sales tax billed? I also wonder if you can register a Canadian lens with CPS but I'd have to ask CPS that.

They double boxed it and it was a pleasure to deal with them.

That is a sweet deal on the 500 II!! Also and more importantly, Congratulations on the new baby boy!! That is awesome! I had to quit at 2 girls. I couldn't handle another 2 years of sleeplessness. That 1DX/500 II combo is super sharp! Love it!

It was only hours old. I had just opened the box, looked at the serial number and new it was on the list for the firmware (suggested, not mandatory).
First time I called, they were going to charge me.
An hour later I called, said I was upset with the vendor because I had specifically asked if the lens was in need of the firmware upgrade (I had even emailed a copy of the Canon memo to the vendor, and had been told by the vendor everything was up to date). Told I was ticked, but not at Canon. He volunteered to have Canon pay both ways.

Just spoke to a canon service centre here in the uk, they said they couldn't do the firmware update to my 300 as they didn't have a 1dx body to update it with and that i would have to contact Canon UK. So it must be updated via camera body.
