I get what you mean @ conveyance of arid & dry. This one started out to be a B&W ... but I wound up here.
Actually, this was odd in that it wasn't dry & arid ... it was like little "islands" of mud. Everywhere you stepped, you'd compress theses "blocks" down about 4-6 inches and fill in the gaps ... kinda like walking on a bunch of milk chocolate squares, hence the toning ... odd and unexpected as it would seem.
Well, take my previous comment with more than a bit of water.
Didnt think of it as muddy and the color makes more sense to me now. Still seems like pretty rich chocolate!
BTW, really like the arrow formation. Good eye
