Hi everyone,
I've been away from FM for a while now as I've been super busy lately, so I know that I have missed a lot of great stuff here, and I am looking forward to catching up. While I haven't been able to get out as much as I'd like, I have taken a few pictures over the last couple of months which I thought I'd share.
As always, C+C is welcomed,
-Andrew
#1 - Two Hawaiian coots state their claim to a prime piece of real estate
#4 - Adult I'iwi. One of my absolute favorite Hawaiian forest birds. really had to push to ISO on the 7D here, but it came out well, all things considering
#5 - Surfbird. One of these guys showed up a few months ago, a first state record for Hawaii. This guy hung out with all the other shorebirds, until they left for Alaska, and now this guy is here by himself
#6 - Red-tailed tropicbird. These are some of the best birds to watch in-flight, and they have a seriously cool courtship flight. I tried to take pictures of it, but I think I'll try video next time
#7 - Apapane foraging. I was super happy to get this shot as this forest bird is notorious for staying HIGH up in the trees. This one ventured down to eye level for at least a full minute!
#8 - Laysan albatross at sunset. Its been a great year for the albatross on Oahu with record numbers of chicks now that their colony is predator free. It seems as though all of that work last year has paid off!
#9 - Red-vented bulbul. I try not to photograph the invasive birds around here, but even I have to admit that some of them are pretty cool, and this bulbul was being particularly inquisitive
Such a fantastic set, I don't know where to start! The adult I'lwi is gorgeous, and you did a great job exposing the red. The surfbird is also a really cool shot - I love the setting of the shot and then the water dripping out of his mouth is just icing on the cake
And the tropicbird and albatross in flight are both awesome shots.

Thanks! I love going over to Maui for I'iwi pictures, they are just so cool!
