Also, not sure if you can purchase cell phones through Amazon dot com in Australia, but I purchased my two Galaxy S2 phones (one for the wife) for one penny each. Loved getting my Amex bill and seeing a charge for 2 cents for what retailed at the time for US$400.00.

When I wear contacts, which I do on a shoot, I cant easily get the phone close enough to focus and still read the text.
This last year I really feel like I have been hit by the old age truck.
If I understand you correctly, when you wear your contacts, you cannot see well close enough? If so, that's the same issue I have. And it has to do with age. I've been wearing contacts since the late 80s, and it's only the last 5 years or so that I've had to start wearing reading glasses to see things close up.
But if you're having trouble with your iPhone, how are you seeing the screen on the back of your camera to ensure your focus is sharp?
Reading glasses is the answer, if I understood you correctly.

I'm 59, and I can't imagine anything easier to read than the iPhone in its current iteration. I do have one of the anti-glare covers on mine, which also prevents the finger smudges that irritate me so much on the glossy screen.

Had an iphone, went back to my old simple nokia (does phone calls and has a 16gb mini SD card full of music but pretty much nothing else) as the result of getting a life

I'd wait 2 months for the new iPhone before pulling any trigger.
I'd do this too if I was you.
As it stands just now the S3 is head and shoulders better than the iphone 4.
A phone isn't just about phoning folks anymore.
Also, as mentioned by big Al. Makes sense to stay with either Google or Apple and not have the hassle of changing things over because one currently has the shiner product...

Galaxy Nexus for me. Had it for 5 months now, never been happier with a phone. Swype keyboard alone is worth being on Android. Camera is mediocre but very usable. Screen is huge. Phone is blazing fast. I get way better battery life than my wife's iphone 4s.

I'm on my third and final Blackberry (Bold 9900) waaaay too many glitches, bugs, freezes, pauses and crashes in BB OS7 for someone with my attention span.
I'll probably get the iPhone 5, then I can download instagram, be cool and hip and be able to ditch photoshop.
