p.1 #1 · Can anyone identify this large Quail-like bird, for me?
Sorry this shot's not better. I'm just learning. This bird is two or three times bigger than the Gambel Quail, that are all over my property in Yucca Valley. I've lived here for 5 years & have never seen this type of bird. It did fly but seemed very much like a giant quail. It does not have the top knot, like quail do. I will try to get a shot of this bird with my 500mm next time.

Yay! Thanks so much for the help! It is definately a Partridge of some sort. I'm just surprised I haven't seen these up here, in the high desert, before.
