A few days ago I went to the lake. The action was slow so I tried to paddle close to a flowering bush to take a few shots with the 500 and a 24mm tube. Underwater obstacles kept me from getting close enough. I paddled on looking for something to shoot and came upon this beaver that evidently did not see me because it was swimming almost straight to me. So I raised the camera, but I could not get it to focus because I had not removed the extension tube...
The beaver kept coming though, and I thought it would see me for sure, but it didn't notice me until it heard the shutter, and it was gone. I managed one frame. Well 2 frames actually, but the beaver was under water for the second shot.
EXIF attached.
1) Full frame with a 500mm and a 24mm extension tube.
Terrific set Ron!!!
Love your close work on the bugs especially that shot of the PM
Killer BG for the Moth/B'fly and really nice techs
Amazing opener and with a tube no less
Superb set Ron...don't you just hate it when you forget to do stuff like that...I have had my 500mm in one of those limiting modes and couldn't figure out why I couldn't focus until it was too late.
Eric
Outstanding set Ron! 4 is my pick! The wing colours match beautifully with the BG. What seemed to start off as a disappointing day turned out to be exceptional. Sow's ear?
Geez Ron, a Beaver with a tube!!!! I thought you had something up your sleeve with the title "knowing" full well there was no way it would be what it is!!! Egad, super shot!! The Heron is wonderful, I saw maybe 15 of them out this morning but even after all these years I still have work them
Oh my you bug work is spot on buddy, too many super shots to pick from, I'll take them all!!

That's the reason I don't use the focus limiter Eric. And thanx.

Fabulous set Ron,
The beaver shot is a corker, what a great capture especially given the unusual gear for this kind of subject.
Apart from the beaver, 2, 4 and 11 really catch my eye, super work!
Paul
Thanx Paul. I guess it was an accidental good shot.
