p.1 #1 · Wrong Turn

I'm a landscape photographer. But once in a while hiking around I run into animals and interesting stuff. Never even seen one of these before (except last week in the dark). Just had my D5100 and 18-200mm with me as I was finishing a long hike so the quality isn't as stellar as some I see here. Exciting for me though!

Great capture Craig. Looks like you were fairly close. Glad that fella was well fed!

I've run across a few black bears over the years and wasn't concerned but if I came across this scene I would be. Nice catch.

The look it is giving you is the type that gets attention. You did a fine job of capturing the bear Craig. I like how you have used the shrubs to create a natural frame.

Exciting? Yes, that's one word to describe it Craig . Blooming scary are words I would use. Great shot though, especially with shaky hands

Thanks for the comments all!

The thing was, I was not searching for a bear. Always wanted to see one here, but never had. I was finishing a hike and it was just there... Ha!
That's how most of my animal shots go. Not really planned, and I miss a lot because I'm totally caught by surprise..

Can't figure out for sure what he was eating, although I thought I saw a boot...
