I'm so inspired by all the photos here, everyones work is so beautiful and sharp and colorful... Thanks for sharing.. I just received my first L series (to me long) zoom. A 70-200 f4 non-is... I shot these hand held from my bathroom window ... all shot at f4, I think I could have stopped it down a bit I feel the squirrels eye is just a tad soft... But man am I having fun!! Tell me what you like what you dont (but be kind) and how to get better at this... BTW my first upload here in the Nature & Wildlife forum....

You have beautiful feather detail and color in the first 3 Eric. The squirrel photos are fun and the eye is slightly off in the last though not enough to harm the image.
Welcome to N&W.

Hard to go wrong with the venerable 40D Eric and that new glass of yours is not too shabby either
Welcome to the image posting side and this is a fine first effort! Fun shots of the Jays.

I just realized how broad my question was... And probably misplaced, sorry. Just wondering about attiaining a bit more reach and not sacrificing IQ or aperture or focus speed.. My reach would go from 320mm (200 mm on a 1.6 crop) to 600mm ?? 1.6+1.4 x 200 right? Any experience with that as a setup?

Nice set Eric, you caught some nice action here.
I really like the 70-200 F4 L non-IS, its a very capable lens and a joy to use compared to some heavier lenses even if it a little slower. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.
