OK, I know... my avatar is way cool, but it's also kind of lame. It's a head & shoulders portrait of an in-flight bald eagle, taken about six years ago at Partridge Island, Nova Scotia. Coincidentally, the 100% resolution of the original photo matches very well with the 60 x 60 pixel size used for FM avatars. The whole image is very much larger. I'll post it later in this thread, if I can remember where it is...
Cleverly, I sometimes vary my avatar image by posting a left vs. right orientation, and I just recently introduced a "heads down" version. Ooooh! Scarry! (Shades of Count Floyd.) My most common 'persona' is a fuzzed version of the image (IrfanView explosion effect), which I rotate, 'fuzz', and/or 'sharpen', according to how coy or fundamentaly-important my most recent post is, or was...
Anyway, what's your favourite avatar on FM?
After a year or two, I'll consolidate your responses and post the results. I'll use at least two categories; static, and dynamic.
Lars Johnsson's 'Asian performer' avatar has to be the best known (I think) and has become synonymous with him.
Then there's Ben (somebody) with his 'Who I Am^/Stuff I Say>' avatar which is pretty clever.
Brainiac had a cocksure avatar that suited his personalilty quite well.
For some odd reason, I've always liked 'veroman's VolksWagon Bug avatar
I can't leave out 'The Monkey' simply for longevity and his (almost) unique appearance!
There's one dynamic avatar that I fondly remember (but I can't come up with the member's name) that had little insects running around...I liked it because it was (at first) kind of creepy to me with all those little ants or termites running around but what sealed the deal for me was one of his posts where he was asking for advice because one of his lanses had gotten ants inside!
I'm sure there are a few others but those come to mind first.
