p.1 #1 · Need advice on ball head for Manfrotto tripod
Hi,
I just bought a Manfrotto 055XPROB Aluminum Tripod and I'm looking for a suitable ball head that can theoretically hold up to a 400mm/f2.8 AFS lens with D3 but will mostly use a 24-70f/2.8.
I prefer the Arca type system over the Manfrotto quick release.
I rarely use a tripod because I shoot events and breaking news but there are about 5-10 times where I really need one a year(such as 4th of July). I would like to also start shoot portraits with the head so that is another consideration.
I'm looking to spend about $100-200 on a ball head. I looked at the RRS, Kirk, Induro, Arca, Acratech but they are mostly above my price range.
I am interested in the Sirui K-20x Ball Head for $129. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? It fits my budget and my needs as of now. It states 55pound max weight but I doubt that.

My experience with the 055xdb (not pro) was that it wasnt stable enough with the 486 rc2 ballhead to support the 500 f4 I got better shots using a giottos monopod.
I have the Sirui K20x and the ballhead is better than the Manfrotto 486 rc2 in terms of stability and features. I also have the K30x which probably is a better size for the larger lenses for a small price increase.
