Tony - based on that wedding shot, your 28G seems crazy sharp, like they took whatever special sauce is in the 28 AI-s lenses but increased the radius of all the glass. Is there much PP on your shot?

I just tested a 28mm f/1.8G against my 28mm f/3.5 AI, the G completely smoked the AI in terms of resolving power at landscape f/stops. Not even close on a D800. The 85 f/2.0 AIS vs 85 f/1.8G is shaping up to be a different story.

I was thinking more of the f/2 and f/2.8 AI-s, but good to know that the f/3.5 isn't up to snuff!
Huddy did a test with his f/2.0 and his 1.8/G for me on his D700. The 1.8G was sharper in that comparison as well, although it's harder to tell at 12 megapixels. Similarly if I compare the 3.5 and 1.8 from a D800 at 50% they look much closer.
Some funky bokeh with the legendary f/1.4! I'd always thought it was a little better than that with quasi-point sources in the far field...
I've also read somewhere that Zeiss is thinking about making a 28 f/1.4 in their new "fancy" line (started with the 55mm f/1.4). I'd be really interested in such a lens....
well thanks everyone, just decided I need a 28mm in my life, though the 24mm AF-D is tempting me too. Either way, awesome pictures and thanks for the little bit of inspiration!
With all the official threads going lately, thought I would bump this one back to the top. I really need to stop looking at these threads as it only increases my NAS. Thanks everyone who has contributed to this thread, really some awesome shots, with very nice glass.
I'm just waiting for my tax return to clear and then will have one at my doorstep by the end of the week. This is a great thread thanks for all the posts and getting me excited about a new lens!
