I will echo what Robert said.

Love my syncs.

Just have to come up with a creative way to mount them.

I have the Calumet-branded Strato II. They're great, and moderately cheap. About to pick up another set today, actually, because I'm somehow missing a receiver!

Phottix Strato II

Definitely a step up from Cybersyncs.

Having 4 flashes on 4 different channels and being able to fire them in ANY combination is amazing.

Not having to deal with cables and PC sync cords.....Priceless!

ditto, as long as batteries are good, everything works
one of these days I will add a few ac powered ones and then no worries about batteries except for the transmitter

Velcro on flash head, Velcro on back of sync.

The syncs are no-nonsense. It is plug in and go. You can use them with any makes/models. They do not support ttl. They are extremely reliable and never have had an issue.

The things I do not like are the pc sync cables on the 580exii.,,the socket is a piece of crap. But that's not the syncs fault, as you can use the much cheaper and much more reliable 1/8"-1/8" cables...just don't buy them from mpex or pcb...they are too expensive. $10 for a 16 inch cable...I can buy a damned 10' 1/4" guitar cble for a buck more.

With that said, the Strattos look nice. I don't like how they mount and I do. I think it is awesome to still have ttl on camera, but at the same time they add height to the flash on the umbrella swivel. Also (not sure as I didn't look) can you use them on non flash foot items? I know when you buy them you buy canon or Nikon. Can you still use manual OCF if it's another brand?

Yep. I shoot Canon and use Nikon SB24 and SB25 off-camera. You can also use them to trigger strobes (I trigger AlienBees with them), but that requires the use of a 3.5mm cable.

I haven't done a distance test yet, but they they worked fine at opposite ends of a decent size reception hall. I'm going to assume working distanec is similar to the Cybersync. I got 100yds+ on a football with those.
