I tried one on an 800 as well, echo John's findings with the add that the AF felt sluggish as well. The price is right and it's compact, that's for sure.

Just put money down on one for use as a lightweight carry round lens, for when I don't want to carry round my big heavy pro 2.8 lenses. Will report back what impressions are when I get it

Received my lens today. Gave it a quick test and it was a bit soft on the left at 5.6 when pixel peeping. I then downloaded the 28-105 profile for lightroom and did some more tests. In real world situations, not shooting a wall, its tack sharp where it counts.
I have no hesitation in using this as a lightweight travel lens. Does it compare to my pro 2.8 zooms? No, but I didn't expect it to - its a totally different price.
If you are aware of its limitations you can create fantastic images.
