p.1 #1 · PhotoShop CS6 Extended S/N Licenses

I was looking last night at the Adobe website and I think I'm going to finally upgrade my CS3 to CS6 Extended. However, I couldn't locate anywhere on their website how many licenses are in included....is it one or two? If it is two, can I have both active at the same time (one on my desktop & one on my laptop) or do I have to go online and 'disble' one or the other as I use them?

Unless they changed something, you should be able to install at two locations. I know I have CS5 set up that way, and it's just fine. No need to deactivate one to use the other...just install on two computers and go.

Thanks...found the information but they REALLY don't make it easy to look it up. Here's what is says on page 98 of the 471 page multi-language License Agreement:
2.1.3 Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 2.1.4, the
primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 (“Primary User”)
may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer
or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home
Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer.

I read that... Yeah, well we expect what from lawyers? Bottom line at least for me is you can install it on two computers just don't use the software on the two machines at the same time.

I had to find that info myself as I'm in the same boat as you and needed to refresh my knowledge of the license.

One license. As many installations as you want, but only two simultaneous activations, but bear in mind that if you go over a certain number of activation/deactivation cycles (somewhere around 20) you'll trigger an inability to activate and have to call Adobe to have it reset.

And where Peter says "Adobe," read "an outsourced, scripted Indian call center with hold times upward of an hour."

Luckily Photoshop (usually) reverts back to a fresh trial if there are activation issues, so you should have 30 days to swear at hold music until you finally get your problem resolved. God help you if your activation problem doesn't follow their scripted prompts, though.

Ah, yes. You've made the same call I did.

Or you can buy a Adobe Volume License instead and use AAMEE 3.0 (Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition 3.0) and then you don't need to worry about your installs being deactivated. One thing I can't stand is when I change some trivial component in my computer (which I do all the time) and it comes up with a new computer code and it deactivates my software just when I need to use it. And then I waste and hour on the phone with a scripted call center to get it back online. If you use an Adobe Volume License instead you can run AAMEE 3.0 and enter your volume key and Adobe ID one time and one time only on AAMMEE. Then use AAMEE 3.0 to prepackage your software with the key and Adobe ID embedded. Then install your software and there is no activation/login required after that even if you make some change to your hardware. Not having to be on hold with that scripted call center? - priceless.

To be clear you can use AAMMEE 3.0 in two ways:

1) Create a preactivated installation package. Then you can install that package on your computers.

2) Install the software in trial mode on each computer. Then use AAMMEE to create a serialization script. You then use the serialization script on each computer to embed your serial number and adobe ID. The software then doesn't need to activate over the net.

Which is best depends on our setup. See the links above.
