This might be my imagination but I seem to remember that when shooting with the JRx+Cubes for Canon and canon flashes, I could dial down the flashes to ridiculously low power levels... below the 1/128th power that I could get from manual.
I just re-bought the RP JRx for Nikon and I'm finding that the lowest I can go is 1/128
I'm just curious if those of you with Canon can confirm that you can indeed get down to basically nearly nothing... and if my peeps with Nikon can confirm that 1/128 is indeed as low as I'm supposed to be able to get.
It's not a big deal at all... I only ever used the ability to go lower than 1/128 when putzing around with macro of the kids' toys and the speedlight being like 3 inches away. If I needed to do this I could obviously put a couple of ND gels over the flash to cut the output... I'm just curious is all

I'm pretty sure I can dial it down to nothing with my Nikon stuff. Lemme check though, it's been a while since I paid attention to actual power levels and didn't just dial in by feel...

I have a few Nikon cubes if you want them. They are of the homemade variety, but they work.

Actually I was able to dial it down to what must have been something around 1/1024 or even less.
1/128 is a pretty powerful burst of light in a very dark place.... I coudl dial it down to where it would light up but you could actually LOOK AT THE FLASH and see the grid pattern on the flash's lens (at 1/128 if you tried that you'd be spot-blinded for a few minutes for sure... and no chance of seeing hte lens pattern)

I did kind of chuckle, yes.
With my jrx triggers, it would seem like the power would go down to what seemed like the flash's minimum power, then it would just stop if you turned the knob any lower. I didn't put any instruments on it to measure though.

When you shoot in TTL it seems like the camera can control the flash down to levels well below 1/128 whereas in manual you can only go that far.
I simply seem to remember the canon hookup basically having the full range of TTL whereas my Nikon setup seems to correlate more to the power settings available in manual.

I'm surprised you think the Canon one had more range...when the strobist hacked the cubes before RP did, they found the Canon ones didn't have as much range. Ditto w/ the Metz flashes.
It's a fixed delay and RP designed using Nikon speedlights so they should have the most range...

All I know is that with my RP JRx+my cubes+ my 580EX I could dial the power to the point where I could comfOrtably look at the flash as it went off. Not so with my Nikon rig.
