p.1 #1 · d800e and soccer

Here's a few shots from a d800e with different lens and under differnent light. Still learning of course, but very pleased so far... Thought some might be interested in the cam for sports.....

Game 1, good light, first shots with cam. Got alot of stuff like the following with a 200-400.

Tried a 200 f2 as well, but it backfocussed consistently (which later adjusted out with fine tune). Here's one that focussed OK for some reason.

Kramk,
Nice looking shots.

#6 reminds me of the Visa Commercials....
:-))
Spot ball - check
Position self for play - check
Time leap for ball - check
Prepare for player contact - check
Time placement for ball implant on face - priceless

Nice shots and colors here. Nice timing on #6 but I'm wondering if you went a bit too tight by eliminating the field surface because it appears he went up a bit to get this. Same thing for #5....to give it a bit more creating room by extending the crop down his body a little more.

Very good action captures, you obviously know how to shoot soccer and it appears the D800e has what it takes as well. Also agree some are too tight in the cropping. Is there is a bit more room in #1?

Nice shots. I am still waiting on my D800 and am planning on using it for soocer along with my d3s. I used the d3x for a few years and loved the resolution and files it produced. The FPS are similar so I figured the d800 could work.

Thanks Guy, .....forgot about those commercials

Thanks Frank and Matt, You're both advising me to crop a little looser, and I must admit I'm probably guilty of trying to show the camera's rez and processing than I am am of what matters, the impact of the shot. Thanks for the reminder.

All of the shots had a lot more room to work with. Here's a redo of #6..maybe too loose?

Thanks Bruce, Yea, I always wanted a d3x to go with my d3, but couldn't afford/justify it. I missed the rez that was available in good light with a d2x. The d800 fills this need nicely
.
Speaking of available rez, I tried a sigma 300-800 with the d800...gonna go post some picts in a new thread.
