It would help if you explained in detail what steps you thought through and where your thinking bogged down.
You will have to crop it. 8 x 10 is in the ratio of 4:5 or about 1 to 1.2. 4190 x 2459 is in the ratio of 1 to 1.7 (from 4190 / 2459), which is wider than a DSLR ratio.
When you've cropped it to an 8 x 10 ratio, you will have 2459 x 1.2 = 2951 pixels on one side and 2459 pixels on the other side.
Another altermative is to add black pixels on two sides until you have an image that is 4190 on one side and 3352 pixels on the other (with two black bands, since 4190 x 0.8 = 3352. The reciprocal of 1.2 is 0.8. Or you can think of the 8 inch side as eight tenths of the ten inch side.).
The third alternative is to combine the two approaches: crop a little and add a little black.
It may seem tricky the first time you do this, but this is all basic fourth grade arithmetic and sixth grade geometry. So do it and practice it and think about it six ways sideways until you master it. It is really fundamental and needs to be mastered.
The simplest way I know in Photoshop is to select the crop tool, enter 8 x 10 for dimensions and the desired output resolution then drag the crop tool across the photo in the edit window, selecting the part of in you want to fit those proportions.
The value for resolution you'd enter would vary depending on what you are printing it on. For example if the printer has a native resolution of 300ppi then you'd enter 8 x 10 and 300 and wind up with file which is 2400 x 3000 pixels.
