p.1 #1 · question for PhotoMechanic users

I'm a longtime BreezeBrowser Pro user, which is a Windows-only program. Whenever I consider switching to a Mac, this one piece of software holds me back. It's so much easier to cull images in BreezeBrowser Pro than it is in Lightroom. The feature I like the most is the ability to switch to the "high quality" view, which applies sharpening to the display of the image on screen (but not to the actual image file.) Lightroom does not have this feature. My cameras are set for low contrast and low to no sharpening, to give me the best histogram for judging exposure. The raw files at iso 1600 and above can appear very soft, so much so that it is otherwise difficult to quickly judge if the photo is sharp and in focus. With BBPro I can tell in an instant if the file is worth spending time on in Lightroom.

Chris Breeze cannot develop a native mac version of this program without an sdk from Canon. They don't offer one for the mac.

PhotoMechanic appears to be the closest thing to BreezeBrowser Pro for Mac users. Does PhotoMechanic have the ability to display raw files (really, the jpeg embedded in the raw) with sharpening, the way BreezeBrowser Pro does?

I'm aware that one can use Boot Camp or Parallels to run Windows programs on the Mac. The reports I've seen from BBPro users who've tried it have been less than encouraging. I like to have both BBPro and Lightroom up and running at the same time.

Yes, so no need for tedious, waste of time pre-rendering as with LR which seems to force that even if you shot RAW+JPG and won't even use embedded JPG in RAW either.
