Last saturday's wedding at an old church. Low light. Strict rules. No Flash, Stay off the aisle, remain behind the front pews at all times, cut your hair, eat your broccoli. You know the drill.
I don't know which finishing I prefer more. B&W or Colour. What do you think?
First up. B&W. I like monotone. It's classic and allow one to admire the lines.
Next. Colour. I like the vibrancy of this photo. Lots to look at and festive.
Note: The dude in blue... watch for it....
..and just as I orientate to include the vast ceiling. Thank you Unc. Bob.
So colour or no colour? If you can share your reason behind that would be cool. thanks. Good night.
If I were to choose -b&w. I struggled with a balcony picture not long ago, tried different angles and lenses, and it just didn't work. It's funny (or not really)- hired photographer is supposed to stay of the aile, not shoot close etc. And what about uncle bobs from a family? I think priests should mention this to everyone at the beginning of the ceremony- stay in your seat kinda announcement
There is a lot going on in shot so removing the colour looks better imo.
You didn't ask for other comments but the highlights look blown and the lines are crooked. The contrast looks pushed very high so the detail is probably there in the RAW file and a quick tweak of the perspective would help it a lot I think.
Yes I know the overblown part. It's not a final edit. Just didn't want to spend too much time on them yet until I settle to go either B&W or Colour. It was tossed to get to get an
some input on the two finishing.
This wedding had the full might of iPhonetagraphers out. Some packed two units, "John Woo" style.
My last wedding was similar (you can go this far in either side, not in any aisles, and stay back. Also if your camera is noisy not too many photos)...
She made an announcement that everyone turn off their cell phones and no flash was allowed...
Sure enough, I'm shooting and I'm timing my shots to go with the increase of volume of her voice or when she will be speaking (place echoed badly...). Well people were using flashes and beeps...
No. Cus I'm a wuss. You should see the iphonetagraphers following some of our shots. Basically some of them followed us around and shot along. Unreal. I didn't mind. As they say "imitation is the best form of flattery"? I'm sure they are all Instagram-ed.
OK thanks everyone. B&W it is. It was my first gut feel too.
