p.1 #1 · Safe to buy refurbished Profoto 7b pack?

Hi,

I am looking at a refurbished profoto 7b unit from a reputable dealer for $2500 refurbished vs. $4200 for new one.

Anyone here have any experience with refurbished Profoto gear and does it have any kind of warranty after it is refurbished? Is it reliable? What is the typical Profoto warranty?

"Refurbished by the Manufacturer to original company's specifications" is all the website states.

Thanks.

These are questions to ask the seller. I have a few profoto heads I bought used, but in excellent condition. Have had them a few years now and they've worked without any issues. One thing you can generally count on from Profoto is that they are reliable workhorses. Doesn't mean you won't find a lemon on occasion, but its a brand known for its dependability.

This statement should answer 90% of your question.

I agree with Deezie, so the other 10% can easily and trust worthy be answered.

They're refurbished by the MAC Group (Profoto's US distributor) to the same specifications as new. If you'd buy new Profoto gear, there's no reason not to buy refurbished Profoto gear. When it's available (which isn't often), it's an excellent deal. Been there, done that, would buy again.

No clue on the warranty; you'd have to ask B&H. It would also be worth asking if it's valid outside the US.
