So, I've been shooting with two cameras (one on my neck and one on my right shoulder) and it's been creating alot of neck/shoulder distress for me.
Any recommendations of good strap setups that will give me the flexibility to switch between cameras quickly/easily while also easing the physical discomfort?
I'm shooting with two Canon 5DMk2s with 580EXII Speedlights on the hot shoes. Occassionally will move the Speedlights off camera, but presume the aforementioned setup.
This is seriously my favorite strap I have ever found...ever. First time I saw it was at the B&H store in NYC. It's a very long strap (almost all of them are far too short for my taste). It's very strong and super super cheap.
I love the CPS straps, which are made by OP/Tech. Love the fact that they can disconnect via a plastic buckle, but are still durable enough to hold a 1d4 w/70-200 2.8is2 around your neck without worry of breaking or straining your neck. They make a very similar one if you arent eligible to get em from CPS
I am also looking for the perfect strap system and have not found it yet, BTW, the first two links did not work in this thread? I just ordered the Q double strap, but it looks like it is gonna to be too much like a pendulum swing and I will not be able to bend or stoop down.. so still looking..
Carry Speed double harness works well. So does the Black Rapid double harness set up. One camera on each shoulder, controllable and easy to use.
I'm leaning towards the Carry Speed to be honest. It's faster, the mounting plate allows for tripod use, has quick disconnects if needed and comes with a extra lens support strap for long lenses. Cheaper too. The attachment plate uses a ball and socket connection which allows a great range of movement and nothing touches the camera. Nice.
Upstrap is also good but I hate those traditional attach points as they always get in the way. Up strap has a sling type option too.
The spider is an interesting system, I just can't get myself to jump to it.
The best *strap* I have found is the 1" wide Domke gripper. It's definitely a minimalist strap and takes up very little space in your bag. It always annoys me when you fold up one of these neoprene straps and it takes up as much space as a decent sized lens. The gripper is small, stays secure, and holds up very well (much like everything else Domke makes).
I work with a Thinktank belt system and don't have any additional space for a spider holdster
