I got lucky last weekend. 2nd shot a wedding at Pebble Beach. I think I saw 2-3 P&S cameras, but everyone stayed in their seats. I did have a guy with a D600 & whatever zoom lens shoot pics of his kids the entire time though.
In my last wedding I was ready to take a picture and some kid with a mobile phone stands up right in my way, I really just wanted to go up to him and slap him on the head and tell him to sit back down. But I moved to another position. But there was at least about 5 people with DSLR, including the dad of the groom (rebel w/ kit lens), and he did come out in some of the pictures. Other then that, most of the people w/ DSLR didn't get in my way.
Perhaps family & friends (including those with cameras) should be banned from weddings, allowing only the wedding party & photographer at the ceremony.
Or, perhaps, the photographer could send their photos to all the family & friends so they (the F&Fs) wouldn't need to take pictures.
My team shot my cousins wedding a few weeks back. I wasn't shooting of course. The husband of a friend brought his 1Dx with 50L and 85L and mounted his 660ex.
Asked my cousin who he was. They had no idea...
He was all over the floor during the reception. In almost every one of the shots.
