p.1 #1 · hotshoe to pc ---safe?

Hi ....I wish to use my Elinchrom Skyport radio popper with Canon 580EX and 430EX flashes, but neither has a pc outlet.
There are converters/adapters available (e.g. at FlashZebra for $25) but are they safe? I'm scared I may fry the circuitry of one or all components.

Is anyone using Skyports with Canon flashes?

TIA

Should be fine. Sync voltage on the Speedlites is extremely low; frying things is really only a concern when you're dealing with older flashes like the big chunky thyristor Vivitars and Sunpaks.

I got the replacement foot for my 580EX from Flash Zebra; it's about twice the price of the adapters, but is more secure, less bulky, and just more convenient.

I don't know how much longer these will be availalbe, so if it's something you might find useful, I wouldn't wait too long.

It took me less than 10 minutes to remove the old foot and install the new one (easy to follow illustrated instructions included with the product) using only a small Phillips (or JIS) screwdriver.

+1 for the flash zebra feet - I use them with pocket wizards to trigger.

If you are handy you can add a PC socket to the orginal foot as well. If you do a search for DIY PC Canon 580 you will find step by step instructions. I converted both mine in one evening.
