Bravo, you definitely hit a grand slam this time. Fantastic shots, thanks for sharing. Agree with Jon, your expertise with the camera is evident in all these photos.
I'm generally a 200+ (or 300+ maybe) mm kind of guy, but every so often it occurs to me that I should wander into the wide lane a little. Very nice images, Michael.
All I can say is stunning series. Thank you very much for sharing! I want the 24/1.4G or 35/1.4G... just can't make up my mind.
Or wait for the upcoming new (hopefully soon) 28/1.8G. Probably not in the same league as the other two, but should be a stellar performer in it's own right.
On second and much closer inspection, I'm seeing a lot of vignetting. Just out of curiosity, is this a natural characteristic of the lens, or is it your preference in post?

the first photo posted, probably 6 feet I was sitting in the middle of the square hoping something interesting would happen close to me. I turned around and saw them getting ready to kiss, had only one chance, and got lucky to get the shot.
for the Artist, I shot from the hip... My estimate would be about 3-4 feet..I shot from the hip as to not have him look at the camera.
After fhooting this way for a while you get a feel for the distance and know when to press the shutter.
