Hey, I have D800 bodies and I definitely want more. I print large, and I want all the detail I can get in prints as large as I can make 'em.
But I want it as part of the Nikon system, with the weathersealing, lenses, and other traits that make the whole thing valuable to me. Adding gear from any other system would not help me.

There is no need to go over 22 MP, you won't see any real difference in detail going from 22 to 36. Just ask the Canon boys.

When you print large you will see the difference. Medium format is out the question. Those cameras go for about $25,000. Pentax 645D cost only $10,000 but it has 40MP sensor so D800 is way better solution. Also, Pentax sells their lenses (for 645D) for over $5000 each. That's just nuts.
If the pixel density stays at what Sony currently has (24MP cropped sensor) the new D4x would have 52MP and it would cost about 8, maybe $9,000. I can accept that for my collection of lenses.
