This is a terrible solution for me. As one who likes to manually select my AF point, AF illumination is crucial. I was really disappointed with the "DX Mode" implementation of my D800. If the FX area would be blacked out, and AF points would illuminate as well, then I think it would have provided a workable solution. But as it is, I'm going to stick to shooting my DX lenses on my D7000.
