You know that there'is a one post per day limit, right?
Oh, yeah .......... That's why you put a hundred images in a single post. Right?
I do have a few more that I'd like to post. But, all in good time my friend.

Ugh, tough call between these two. Both are great. I'll go with #1 - I like the one with a little more space in this case. Both of them are 'right' in their own right. Yeah, I wrote that on purpose.

Hahaha! Yes I only post one per day And it's usually huge
It was great traveling with you and the gang. "More bird, less air" is good only if there's enough detail to do so. #2 is great if you have the detail, otherwise, #1.
First off let me say it was a super TREAT to see you walking up that hill man. I had no idea you were coming and so glad to see ALL of the Southern Cali group!!!! Ya'll are great people to hang and shoot with.
Really glad you got some "Great" images and I hope to see more from the trip
As for the crop
I like the first one much better and DON'T like Karla's version "vertical" It just doesn't work for me..... Sorry Karl Had the bird been facing you a little more I think the portrait would work..... But it's definitely a landscape crop for me.
Well it's about time you showed up back here, Ken! I was getting worried. Seems like many of the "old" FMers are dropping out, certainly not posting as much as before. But you, sir, you have your reputation to uphold! I go with #2 also, but I'd be happy just to get a Kite this close and clean... Hope to see you Out and About soon, my friend!
Both are really fine shots Ken. If pushed to choose I like the open space and feeling in 1. It may have a lot of bg but the contrasting bird easily dominates this fine scene.

Thanks for weighing in on the cropping question. Definitely a dilemma.

Ken,

Hard to pick a favorite I like them both.

I can't believe that it's been so long since I've seen you guys. And just about as long away from the forum and shooting. I don't think that my situation with work and other stuff will allow me to be as active as before, but I'll try to sneak away now and then.

Long time no see Master K. Welcome back! #1 is for me, it is sharper and all the detail are still there.

It's been a long time, so I guess I'm longer considered "one of the regulars" in local shooting circles. I hope to get back into the swing of things and get the dust off of my equipment. Hope to see you soon.

It was a fun road trip. And we all got back in one piece!
There's enough detail in there for me to crop a lot more, so it's just a matter of how I want to present the bird.
Get your shots up and share.

It's been a long time since I shot with you last. It was great seeing you again, but I almost didn't make it up the hill. Man! Am I out of shape! Was I lucky that the hill was neither as steep or the trail as long as Conrad made it out to be. :P
Gotta do this again before too long. 'Til the next time ..............
