How should Nikon D800 raw files be opened in CS5? I have no problems with the D7000 files, The CS5 message is that the files seem to be from a camera that is not supported. Thank you

You must update your ACR. Adobe Camera Raw.
Then it will work.
Mine is 6.7.0.319 which works. Not sure what is most current.

this is the most recent beta ARC and will be updated when officially released. this is also what is used by all reviewers of the newest models

This only applies to OS X, and then only to applications that use Apple's Core Image (e.g., Aperture, iPhoto). Photoshop and Lightroom use Adobe's own raw decoding routines.

I downloaded the 6.7 ACR upgrade and the matching DNG converter 6.7, but still get the same message the CS5 does not recognize the camera. Thanks, Jim

How are you transfering the .nef files to the computer?

If you are using the Nikon Transfer program make sure it is the embedded version (2.0) contained within Nikon View NX2 version 2.3.0 . The stand-alone Nikon Transfer program will not work and makes raw files garbage.

Or, copy and paste a NEF file directly from your memory card to the desktop and try opening with Photoshop to test.

Make sure that Adobe Photoshop is ver. 12.0.4 and camera raw is 6.7.0.319
check versions under "Help" "About Photoshop" and "About Plug-In."

It does work. Really. It does!
