Why should we read this if we're waiting for a new camera? Other than the scale of the operation, it's nothing unusual... people in Canada smuggle camera gear from the USA all the time.

I wonder what happened to Leica gear stolen in Moscow last year. Among items there was the venerable 35-70 f/2.8 zoom which was produced in very short quantities. In fact, only 200 items were produced. It can be too hard to sell the lens anywhere, unless criminals were doing their ugly job on assignment.

Of course, smugglers mean no tax revenue from the smuggled items. IP theft means tax revenue from the bootleg items.

Some used gear everywhere is stolen most is not. Why is ebay the stolen goods king and how are you getting your expert numbers? If you are making this statement can you back it up? Stolen good are sold on street corners and yard sales also so seems kinda mean to hack ebay. Opinions are just that facts may point elsewhere.
