p.1 #1 · How to convert C/Y 35-70mm f3.4 to Nikon?
Hi All,
I am thinking about shifting to Nikon but I don't want to give up my Contax Zeiss 35-70mm f3.4 and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with converting the lens to Nikon mount and what are the issues involved?

It is apparently the most difficult of the Contax lenses to convert to Nikon (of those which can be converted). I converted the 80-200/4, which is easier, and that was tricky in itself. If you attempt this yourself, be careful and follow the directions very closely.

I converted my 35-70 f/3.4 to Nikon mount. Only tricky part was getting the spring moved in the opposite direction. Follow the directions and you should be ok

might as well ask here whilst this topic is open,
in there list it says the 28mm 2.8 MM may need to have the rear shaved. what with a cut throat or
Wilkinson Sword safety razor.
Nah, tape up the lens really carefully and use a fine metal file, checking often. Or send it to someone who can do it. worldinlens from this forum can do this work.

If you try it, make sure that everything is taped up really carefully. The smallest shaving will wreak havoc inside the lens. Careful too when you remove it.

Like other posters said, use a fine file. I used a technique (found here, or somewhere else) of holding the lens above the file (which was on a wooden bench) and SLOOOWLY moving it back and forth, removing a bit of the fin and excess ring at a time. This is good because the shavings fall down, not on the lens. Mine worked perfectly. I am still to apply some matte black to the edges, just to make usre there are no stray reflections.
