I agree, the shutter speed is plenty high in all of the photos. Probably too high in the shot with 1/8000th. Remember that the dynamic range is higher at ISO 100 (As compared to ISO 800). So, even though you might not see any noise, you might have got a better shot with a lower ISO.

On the other hand, if you just took it straight out of the box, I'm pretty impressed with what you've done. Coming from a D700 can be daunting. There are so many controls and settings...

In situations where light varies in intensity (eg. in shade then not in shade) I'll usually put the ISO a slight bit higher (but not to high as to hit the shutter max) and then I don't have to watch my shutters speeds as much..
So I think it's a trade off I'd be willing to accept in unpredictable situations.
