As I understand, the reason no-one has been allowed to take away test photos from a 1D-X since the October announcement is that the firmware etc had not been finished.
This has now changed! I got an email today, and those who got to get their hands on a 1D-X first in the world at the Pro Solutions show in London have been invited to a go-karting trip in a little over a week's time where we can "use your own memory cards and take the images away with you".
That said, for those who don't get to go, don't expect public feedback:
"Can we post our images online after the session?
Yes, though we would appreciate you don’t post any reviews online as these sessions are meant for photographers who are thinking of upgrading and need to try out these cameras rather than for bloggers and reviewers."

capture a 1/8000th, ISO100 black frame
then we can see if they gave better sensor tech to the 1DX than the 5D3 or not
Hah, I'm probably not going myself - I don't think I'll be in London on the day, and the event sounds very strongly like it's geared towards sports guys with the 1d4 whereas I'm from a studio/1ds3 POV.

Hmmm. To bad if you don't go.
I have a 1DsIII and 1DIV. I'm thinking that I might want to sell the 1DsIII and get a 1DX, but only if people with a "studio/1ds3 POV" think that it's a decent replacement for the 1DsIII. The 1DsIII is my go-to body for many applications, but it's a bit slow when shooting alongside the IV for sports and other action situations.
Anyway, looks like it'll be here for the Olympics. That's good.

Take a 300mm or 400mm lens with you and also a bag of french fries for seagulls.
See if you can Servo AF track them in flight.

Awesome news! It would be even more awesommer if you decide to go and bring us all some goody news!
No, it means Canon is performing damage control to keep its current 1D X customers in the stable by offering them a junket to placate them until the camera is finally released.
Lets hope they release the dam camera! and I hope its been worth the wait, I didn't attend the pro solutions but would love to hear feedback from others that have got a chance to test the 1Dx out, from what i hear someone I know has got an invite in two weeks time, is that the same for all?

Yes, I agree, Canon is already losing $3300 per person that has decided the 5D3 is good enough. And losing $6800 per person who switches to the Nikon cameras. They really need to get their act together with this camera. I wonder what the problem is that they are trying to fix??

Maybe the are re-working the AF lighting issue being discussed a lot for the 5D3 (red light showing through lens, can't see af point, etc.)

Nonsense. There are more 1D-X customers than even a large number of "junkets" could accomodate.
Stuff happens when rolling out complex high-quality precision instruments. Just ask the Nikon folk about rollout delays. Relax.

I can guarantee you that is 100% NOT what they are working on. Canon had 3 years of 7D beta testers in the 1000s out there and don't seem to have received many complaints so I don't think this is a concern for them. That thread is 90% BS and 10% genuine complaints. I'm not going to go into it on this thread but I'm sure you've read my opinion over on that thread anyways.
