16 2.8D, sharp but some fringing in the corners, like the D700.
14-24, one of the best out there, shines on the 800.
17-35, Not as good as the 14-24 at infinity in the corners at 17-22 due to some curvature of field, Otherwise very good, best suited as my PJ / underwater lens.
28/2 AIS, just as beautiful on the 800 as the 700.
35/2 AIS, same as 28/2
35 1.4G, stunning, one of the best.
50 1.4G, nearly as good as the 35, still not convinced of the MTF charts saying it is not very good on the D800.
50 1.8E, basically the same as on the 700, but flaws enlarged, still a great cheap throw in pocket 50 which is how I use it.
60 6.8 D, while sharp, chromatic aberration shows at even F/8-F/10, might need to go to the N coated version.
75-150 3.5 AIS, just as good on the 800 as the 700, one of the best lenses for hiking / back country skiing ever, wish it were N coated and just as small.
105 2.5 AIS, brilliant on the D800, just like the 700.
70-200 VR-II, one of my best lenses on the 800, only slightly less with a TC-14E.
Running a MacPro 3.33 6 core booting off of stripe raid twin SSD's, HD5770 GPU, 32GB ram, 12TB of internal storage, 16TB RAID external, working with D800 files just fine...
