FYI--went to Bosque in January for a week-end and wasn't happy with the photos. They had excessive noise and were not very clear. As I'm in VA this week and right next to the Canon Repair Center, I took my 7D in and they had to make electronic adjustments to the focus screen which was causing the excessive noise. Noise was unacceptable even an 400 ISO.

I've been reading about 7D-noise and I am convinced now that it is not that bad - or as bad as people say... I think it all depends on shooting conditions and settings... but, the proof is in the pudding.... so I will keep shooting and try to figure out how to make it work...

Great shots Enrique. Tony shoots at high iso with great results, and I have been pleased with higher iso performance as long as I don't crop very much. At least now I'm not afraid to go above 800 if I have to. Getting the exposure right in camera helps a lot ~ Ron

Wow. These are really outstanding. I can't get over the fuchsia (?) in the first picture. That might be my favorite color now :P

Big kudos for pushing the gear buddy

Shooting Hummers in available light is always a challenge.
The 7D noise debate notwithstanding, I've found that you can produce good raw files at the higher end. As you mentioned conditions will play a big part in your success and noise reduction benefits any image IMO and should be incorporated into your workflow. Cranking the ISO really helps achieve DOF where you need to keep a higher f stop too.

Better light is coming bro and look forward to your next visit with this little speed demon
