Thank you Ken! Yes these were shot in a Butterfly house full of children running around in awe. Not the best shooting conditions but a heck of a lot of fun!

You could have stopped at #2 Tim, that is a freaking amazing entomology study subject and a gorgeous image!! The BG for #3 compliments so nicely and the wing detail and color are sweet. #4 looks like a big fella and a cool leathery look to it's wings Killer exposure for 5 buddy and the red/black combo is beautiful. 6 looks like he's guzzlin the stuff and more sweet wing pattern! Thank you Tom, not the easiest shooting for sure, 85 degrees and humidity that matches Combine that with 50 kids running around and...... it is an interesting place for sure. Thanks again for all the nice words.

A couple of nits. The fourth - at least for me - begs for a portrait comp, with some space below to heighten the drama. I might even give up some detail to get that if the space below allowed.
Second, I thought I could see flash in these, and when i looked at the EXIF, it was there. From your shutter speed, it's obviously required. Could you have bounced it to lessen the direct flash quality.

Indeed David, they aren't as easy as it looks. You may be right about 4, I'll mess with it some. Yes there is flash being used in all of them. I was trying to bounce it but the space wasn't conducive to that. I really do need to get a diffuser for such work.

Thank you Larry!! I head over there once a year or so. I enjoy the challenge but there are downsides to shooting there.
I love these Tim. The dof is so spot on with a perfect foreground and delicious background. I am always impressed how you pay such perfect attention to how the background will look and orient yourself to the exact position.
