Can anyone tell me if they make a metal hood for the 85Planar f1.4 in C/Y Mount? If so what is the number. If any one has one they are not using drop me a PM

When I had this lens I also had a metal hood for it. I sold the lens but kept the metal hood. There's nothing written on the hood, so I can't help you out with a number. Actually I'm not even sure if this is really an original Zeiss hood: It's very simple build, just a threaded tube. I can make a photo of it tomorrow if this is of any help to you.

You can also use the Contax metal hood 5 on that lens.
Advantage: superior flare protection.
Disadvantage: more illumination fall-off at f/1.4.
Interesting. I assume the same would be true for the Planar 100/2. I'll have to give it a try.
I like the Contax hood system, it allows some nice 'mixing and matching' of hoods and rings. I use the 72>86 ring with the #4 hood on my FD85/1.2 Asph since Canon never issued a hood. I wish the K-84 caps were cheaper and more available though...nicely rounds out the system.
