I need some help in shooting rugby action as I've never shot it before. I have no idea as to where to position so advice is appreciated and also what to look for in player action since there is no quarterback, running back or wide receivers. Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm trying to land the T&I contract for this local rugby club and I suggested that I shoot some action to get an inside track. Not to worry, action shots are NOT going to be given away for free.
Send a pm direct to the Brits, Irish, Welsh, and Scotts on here -- Peteroin, Glenn1, Graham Crowthe. These guys regularly put up some nice rugby.
I need to start shooting the game again down under. What I find works is to shoot it a bit like regular football. You do get to move a bit with play. The game is fluid, but not as fluid as soccer. Looking at the newspaper stuff here it seems that folk tend to set up in back corner or twenty or so yards out from the try line.
I have shot a few games. I usually set up about 20 or so yards in front of the try line of the team I am covering. I usually use my Sigma 120-300 on one body and 70-200 on another for closer action.
When I started I had a little difficulty because the game never really stops. I was thinking football in my mind, where there is action for 10-20 seconds then a huddle then they go at it again. Not so with rugby, it just keeps on going.
