OK, this could put a serious dent in my plan to switch to Fuji X next year. And short of a small, relatively inexpensive FF, it's just about the only thing that would. Wow.
“We saw our product and video in your website! We are so happy about that!! We are now developing the Contax G to Sony NEX adapter with AF function and it is almost finish. We will update the information to you very soon. Some people email us about Nikon G to NEX (AF support) adapter. We will start this project around November(after Contax G to NEX AF adapter) and we think we will finish it before April 2013.”
If you can get AF working for the Contax G 28mm F2.8, I'll be buying a NEX-6 just to use that lens with AF and good corners. Assuming the NEX-6 is like the 5N.

I don't think that there is a significant difference regarding corner sharpness between 7 and 5n. Color shift is much more evident on the 7 though.
i know i'm in the minority, but i don't really have any desire for autofocus, especially if it means no manual focus ring (which i expect it would have to on a contax g AF adapter).

It was a huge difference with smearing when I had my G28. Big big difference.

I'm excited for it not necessarily because of AF but because focusing with a grinding like adapter sucks.
Well done, Derek! But I would like to have the option of AF, in addition to MF. Hence, I would keep my manual focusing adapters and I'd add this one, for when it would be handy to have AF. Best of both worlds,

i've fixed that for my 2 contax g lenses recently and much prefer the real helicoid with a metal focus ring that turns the correct direction.
Do you have any writeup of how you did that? I'd love to see it!
Also, I'd guess that the adapter is going to be ~$350 and bulky (with the motor inside, and probably a small plate for the lens release, since I don't think they can put the release underneath like the MB one)

i'll make a full photo write up of putting the g28 into the rokkor 55/1.7 helicoid when i put the final spacers in it (haven't made it to the machine shop for that yet). the g45 to 58/1.4 helicoid was more complicated and i think could be done into the 55/1.7 the same way as the g28 so no write up for that one.

I assume you are taling about the f/2.8 Version?
I think it does shift. Have a look at this page
"as an extra step during the postprocessing you have to use cornerfix to remove the purple corners and the vignette from the to dng-files converted raws."
you can see some shifting in thisshot from the author:
Yeah, the f/2.8. Thanks, Philip. Oh, well. At least LR's a one-stop shop for it now.
There is no glass element in this AF adapter. Simply put, they just "translated" the NEX AF protocol to the lens native protocol and vice versa. Overall, there is no mirrorless system out there has this kind of flexibility. This is the future I see with NEX, as a universal platform.
I wish there was an adapter that did auto-aperture - or even had a button you pushed to open the lens wide open for focusing, then release the button and the lens is back at f/5.6 or whatever it was set to on the aperture ring.
Why? The EVF is so nice that I don't need to do that anymore; I actually shoot at the aperture I want. This actually eliminates the focus shift problem as well.
