a difficult chore to work this IR image. my solution (which is not always successful!) is to select the area that needs contrast so it does not look muddy or run together; then go in close and in curve (PS user I hope), select an area or leaf that is a little darker than mid tone and drag the pointer up a little; then select an area that is a little lighter than mid tone and drag the pointer down a little. then play with this curve (if it seems to help). If you use LightRoom, I'd cut the aperture way back to produce a darker image before playing (!) in PS.
I now tend to shoot much darker IR images and work from there.
