p.1 #1 · Help with appraisal of a Mamiya camera

A friend of mine asked me to help sell his camera since he no longer uses it. I would say that I am an expert in digital cameras but sadly I don't have much experience with film bodies(besides 35mm).

I did some research on it but I am still unsure of some stuff.

The camera is a Mamiya RZ67, the first version.
-110mm f/2.8 Sekor Z lens
-120 back
-waist level view finder

As far as I know, those are the only things that I can identify.

Is the RZ series the lower line of the Mamiya camera? From what I read, it is a "studio" camera.
How good is the quality of this lens? According to bh/adorama, this lens sells for about $1,300 brand new. But on ebay,it I see one or two seller putting it at about $300. I know the value of the lens drops when it is used, but this is a big drop. Sadly keh does not have this lens.

Keh has a EX body only for about $330 with the waist level viewfinder
-BGN 120 back for $50

ebay has a similair setup but the RZ67 II for about $1000 shipped form Taiwan.

So honestly how much do you think he can get for this? I am guessing $700-800 for everything?

Hey there, many people here won't respond to what may look like an undercover buy and sell post (without paying for the service, though I see that you did...).

Saying that, quality wise the setup is fantastic. The RZ system is Mamiya's higher end. That particular lens is very sharp and wonderful dof (or lack thereof) and it seems to be one of the most popular lens right now.

I just picked up that exact setup (though the body was in only "good" condition) for $360, though I got a really good deal. I wouldn't expect more than $600 for it. There are just too many out there and the demand can't really keep up.

Good luck

The 110 f/2.8 is a very good lens.
Off the top of my head I'd say maybe 300 usd ( I haven't tracked prices recently so this is only a guess)
The RZ Pro (non Pro II) aren't worth a lot these days compared to what they cost new.
I'd say... 2 to 250.00 usd?

The back in good shape is right on at around 50usd.

Keep in mind KEH prices are a bit more due to the fact they offer 14 day inspection and 6 month warranty.

In Europe the prices are even lower: Mamiya RZ67, 110/2.8, back

Although this sale is a bit extreme. It appears that he listed it as an RZ67 and got that kind of price, but on the photos it is actually a II.
