I contacted Amazon, ordered on morning of March 2nd, about the 5DIII body and they haven't received them yet and have no idea. I also asked how far up the queue I am, since when I ordered they had no back order at that time, but they wouldn't tell me.

I'm wondering... I just placed my 5D mark III preorder with the 24-105 L kit lens via Amazon link (I love the Canon flavored Kool-Aid best). I saw a "note on availability" saying they have already sold out on all the body only preorders, but didn't see a "note on availability" on the 5D Mark III with kit lens at the time I placed the preorder. I have never bought Camera tech so early into the product cycle like this - mainly I go through the used channels like the beloved FM forums. You guys think I'll get my 5D Mark III w/ Kit lens shipped out immediately on release day?...Show more →
Yes I noticed the same. I'd say it's anyone's guess at this point. I preordered that kit from Amazon on the 11th. I then got an email a day later telling me it would ship beginning of April. Since then (on Wednesday), I changed my payment method on the order, which appears to have bumped me to the rear of the line, since now it says on the order "no estimated delivery date."

Same for me with B & H, I can't get anything out of them. They won't tell me where I am in line or when they expect to ship.
i ordered from BH as well, still showing backordered. I kinda wish I would have ordered from Adorama instead, or just bought the kit and sold the lens.

Could have gone just the other way, too. Should have ordered both and sold whatever came in second
Just left my local camera shop where I preordered mine at and they said they know for sure they have been shipped out to them already and should come in mon or tues.

My local camera shop told me the same thing today. Mon/Tues and they'd have good stock. Considering paying tax and cancelling B&H to have it in time for my Spring Training trip.
Here is California I have to pay tax on it even if I buy it out of state. When they audit you, they check to see that you paid tax on every item that you purchased and claim as a business expense. If they find that you did not pay sales (or use tax) then they charge you double what it would have cost if you had just paid it so it.

I would be very happy if we had those tiny sale taxes as California

That's misleading. We pay separately for services that your taxes pay for. No matter where anyone lives the government takes too much money
That's also misleading
I'm rather sure that you don't have a clue where the sales tax ends up going to , when I buy a camera in Sweden. And what services you pay for that the camera sales tax is going to pay for here.
What services do the camera sales tax pay for here I don't have one service that is free even.
Nearly every country have it so it's not such a big deal for you. And also those countries where the people get a lot less services than you are getting in California
Anyone else get one of these from B&H this morning?
