Give it a few months the D700 used prices will plummet maybe it will stabilize at $1500 range?
I don't know if $1500 is a good used price seems to be right now. But if you need a camera then go get it and don't look in B&S.
It is a good price in a way. However, I just picked up a great condition D700 for $1,750.00 with 40k on the shutter. I know a replacement shutter for it (from APS) is around $450.00. At $1,500.00 + shutter and shipping, you have a camera that is selling for around $2k used, for about the same with a new shutter assy. Not a bad deal, but not excellent, IMO.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I will probably buy the D700 from my friend. My concern has been the shutter count but it seems a good start for a full frame camera.
